Game Progression

From Pizza Tower Wiki

Game Progression refers to the percentage at the file select titled "Tower Status" in Pizza Tower.

Percentage System

The percentage of the completion is based on the progress of each main objective in the game:

  • Toppins collected (95 in total, grants a total of 32% (32.09%) towards the Tower Status)
  • Secrets accessed (57 in total, grants a total of 19% (19.52%) towards the Tower Status)
  • Tower Secret Treasures collected (19 in total, grants a total of 6% (6.51%) towards the Tower Status)
  • Levels beaten (20 in total, grants a total of 6% (6.85%) towards the Tower Status)
  • Bosses beaten (5 in total, grants a total of 1% (1.71%) towards the Tower Status)
  • C, B, A and S Ranks obtained (96 in total, collecting a higher rank also grants the lower ranks as well towards the Tower Status, grants a total of 32% (32.53%) towards the Tower Status)
  • Completing all 72 Chef Tasks and getting a P-rank in all stages (grants an additional 1% to the Tower Status, bringing the final percentage to 101%)

Each main objective completed, of which there are a total of 292, grants ~0.3% (0.3425%) towards the Tower Status, which is then rounded down to the nearest percent to get the final Tower Status.

Final Rankings

After beating the game, credits are shown, after which a final ranking for the entire file is given. These rankings are given by meeting certain percentage criteria in the Tower Status. The judgement can be improved by completing the game more; however, some are only given if the game was completed fast enough.

Peppino’s Final Judgement (Peppino's Rankings)

The background is a combination of question marks and X marks in black and white, the word WHAT?, the word UH?, and Cheeseslimes.

That’s the One, Officer!!

Peppino, bruised and with tears shooting from his eyes, points at the player, yelling for their arrest, as a police pig similar to Hamkuff glares at them from afar. This ranking is earned by getting 61% to 71% throughout a run of the game. The background is a combination of singular stars, multiple stars, a hashtag, a band-aid, the word OUCH!, and two faces expressing agony from Peppino.

Trivia

  • The "You Suck!" image has been in the files of the game for a long time in a single image form, rather than being animated.
  • At one point in the development, the rankings the player would receive were final, and to get a better one the player would need to start a new save file. A separate judgement exists for this as well, that went unused.
  • At one point in development, the final judgement was not chosen by the Tower Status, and instead there were different requirements for each judgement:
    • "That's the One, Officer!!" was supposed to be given after getting hit a very large amount of times.
    • "Confused?" was supposed to be given after completing the game, while killing the least amount of enemies.
    • "No Judgement" was supposed to be given after completing the game without receiving any other rank requirement.
  • The Pizzaboy image in the menu changes depending on the current tower status percent of the selected save file. This, however, is not related to the final judgement. Here's the list of the percentages:
    • 0-14% - Happy;
    • 15-28% - Sad;
    • 29-42% - Angry;
    • 43-57% - Mad;
    • 58-71% - Insane;
    • 72-85% - Handsome;
    • 86-99% - Skeleton;
    • 100% - John;
    • 101% - Golden John.
  • The absolute minimum percentage required to beat the game is 37% (37.67%) - this requires completing 19 stages and all 5 bosses with D ranks, and collecting 86 Toppins; taking at least 9 hits on the first four bosses and not obtaining any secrets or Tower Secret Treasures. Meanwhile, the absolute minimum percentage required to get the true ending is 44% (44.52%) - the extra ~7% is gained by collecting all 19 of the Tower Secret Treasures, and completing the remaining stage.
  • If a save file is modified to have a final judgement which does not exist, "Confused?" will be displayed on the save file in the main menu.
  • On Peppino's "You Suck!" sprite, there is an error in which the shading on his hands is transparent instead of the intended brown.
  • Modifying a save file to have a negative Tower Status will cause the Pizzaboy icon to cycle through all possible icons before stopping on its "Happy" icon when selecting the save file.
    • The percentage will also be displayed without the minus (for example, -63 will be displayed as 63).

Scrapped Judgement

This judgement was originally planned to be added to the full release of the game. It would have appeared if the player had already gotten a final judgement on the current save file and tried to get another one. This was scrapped because the developers thought it would turn people away from continuing playing.

It shows Peppino menacingly staring at the player with an expressionless, threatening face as the only color scheme is red and black.

An alternate version of the screen without the text shows up in Tricky Treat if the player attempts to leave the level via the enterance with the Ghost transformation, closing the game shortly after.
