Trivia

  • In the SAGE 2019 Demo, Ancient Cheese's first rooms use a beta version of "Theatrical Shenanigans", which existed as early as the Early Test Build, along with the "Funiculi Funicula". This was presumably a mistake, as the updated version used later was posted onto Mr. Sauceman's SoundCloud and YouTube channel not far from the demo's release.
    • Also notable in the SAGE Demo, the second half of the level uses a song called "Theatrical Mischief" instead of "Put On A Show!".
  • It's the only playable level from the SAGE demo to not get its own holiday-themed level.
  • Despite having a final name in the SAGE 2019 Demo, it was temporarily called Ruin in the PT_Eggplantv15 build.
  • Level's title is most likely a pun on Ancient Greece and the fact that cheese is a very ancient food, dating back to roughly 1615 BC.
  • Per above, level's design is full of references to ancient and classical arts, such as the giant Peppino statue in the titlecard parodying the Thinker, background arts resembling Acropolis, and decorations having images of Peppino and other characters as Greek painted pottery and Archaic reliefs.
  • Before version v1.0.594, the escape time limit was 2:50. The update extended the timer by ten seconds, bringing it up to 3:00.
