Description

Cheese Monster looks somewhat like a demented Cheeseslime, with its eyes being much smaller than its eyeholes and its mouth always appearing wide open. It also has two orange arms that it crawls around with.

Behaviour

Cheese Monster chases the player with average speed. It has the ability to invert gravity at it's will, effectively jumping and allowing it to more effectively pursue Peppino. Though contrary to popular belief, they are NOT able to pass through narrow gaps or through terrain, however in appears to do so in certain places where monster solids (collision objects for Toppin Monsters) are not placed. It can also pass through Outlets.

Audio Description Additional Note
Cheese Monster's Walking Sound.
Mushroom Monster's Walking Sound.
Mushroom, Cheese, Tomato and Sausage Monster Jumpscare. the sound is originally from Funny Man Screams High-Pitched 'Owww!'

Trivia

  • Each Toppin Monster would originally spawn after the player gets the Toppins of same type. Then they would start to wander around the building. Mushroom and Sausage Toppin Monsters would traverse between floors by getting to the end of each floor, while Tomato and Cheese Toppins were able to traverse between each room from each floor. If the player gets caught by Toppin Monsters, they lose a life, Peshino was also supposed to be used as a health system. After getting caught without Peshino, the player would get teleported back to beginning of the level. The Toppin Monsters were also much slower.
  • Rarely, when the player is caught by a Toppin Monster, an image depicting Peppino, Mushroom Toppin Monster, and Tomato Toppin Monster celebrating Oktoberfest appears in place of a jumpscare, complete with high-pitched stock yodelling rather than a scream. The player still gets turned into Peshino, however.
  • During June 2022, an idea was brought up of 3D being used in game with prerendered models, ideas were brought up such as the spinning rat in the bg of Pizzahead's fight, a 3D attack for Pizzahead, or 3D Jumpscares for Don't Make a Sound. Out of these only the jumpscares got far, as they were nearly complete, but because of artstyle consistency concerns they were never added in the final release.
    • On May 26th, 2023, Orca, the original creator of the jumpscare models, has released them to the public and can be found here.
  • The Toppin Monsters are referred to as chasing monsters in the description of the "And this... is my gun on a stick!" Chef Task.
  • Despite increasing the combo when killed, the Toppin Monsters do not contribute to the Super Taunt.
